Training With Kids

Just brought home our first child. A baby girl. I lift in the garage and am attempting to have her with me while I train (in the stroller). Do any of you guys lift with your babies or kids around? Any tips? I can foresee not deadlifting with her in the room and I may need to turn the music down a bit.

Personally, I wouldn’t do it but we have several carrycot prams that are parked away in a corner with sleeping babies on a Saturday and it usually isn’t an issue. That would be much more a disruptive environment than your garage but so much depends on your kid.

Just put a crib in there and you should be good as long as you aren’t too loud.

If you have the option of not having our kids around then it is the clear choice. I train with my kids around sometimes, they are 4 and 6. Not every day is the same, it gets annoying when I have to stop them from fighting or they try to talk to me during a set.

When my first kid was about 1-1 1/2 y.o. he used to freak out when I did chin ups. He would scream “No Dada! No!!” and cry, like I was doing something horrible.

Were you kipping?
