First off, I really enjoyed your interview with T-mag and appreciate your candor and willingness to challenge traditional fitness dogma.
I am a high school senior who will be entering the US Military Academy at the end of this June. Being a female soccer player, upper-body strength has not been my focus (or strong point!) I am primarily concerned with passing the APFT but also with being able to handle the stresses, and many many pushups, of basic training.
I can currently do 30 pushups in a 2-minute span but my goal is at least 42 (100 pts on the PFT). Do you have any advice regarding how to increase both my max amount of pushups as well as total arm strength? Any tips on exercises that would help my general fitness would be appreciated also!
