Training for Rugby?

After going through about a year of training with no particular aim other than looking better than I used to (which I achieved), my mate and I decided that next year we were going to try out for the med ruby union team.

What kind of training should I do for this? I’ve never been shown olympic lifts, and I doubt that any of the gym staff at mine would know how to do them. I played outside centre in highschool (a back).

My current height and weight is 178cm, 78kg(up from 71 5 or 6 months ago, thanks to this site)

Please let me know if there is any more info you need in helping me.


Probably the same training techniques used for football?

I’m from Australia, so NFL training is outside of my knowledge. I’d wager there is more running to rugby than NFL though.
