Training Around a Knee Injury

I have a minor tear in my Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL); inside knee ligament. I’ve been told that it will heal on its own and to call the orthopedist in four weeks if it still hurts.

I’m looking for recommendations on what exercises I can continue to do to maintain strength and not lose out. As of now my plan is to stick to upper body and focus on my back and maybe do some unilateral lunges with my left (un-injured and weaker leg) while my right leg heals.

Does anyone have experience with something similar? What exercises did you find useful? Or not useful? Thanks for the help in advance!
