Torn Meniscus, Still Benching

Damn, just when i was getting great gains on my squat and perfecting the deadlift, something like this has to happen during a pickup football game. im so depressed. i just started getting into powerlifting, so decided to start wsfsb3. i guess ill just be stuck working out 2 days a week. will i still see bench gains even though im not working any lower lifts?

Take the rest, operate and get your chins and midback strong as hell. Give some time for your legs to heal and start rehabbing them as soon as the doc gives the go!

are you having surgery to repair the cartilage damage?

i still have to get an MRI this week, but i most likely did tear my meniscus according to the orthopedic surgeon. im betting its just a minor tear, so i dont know if surgery will be neccessary, but again it might be if i want to squat heavy again.

I think you should just focus on benc strengt and work on wat you can for squat and deadlift…

Something like this sounds good.

Bench
Triceps close grip,dips,skull crushers etc
Shoulders some kind of shoulder press

Lats
Rear delts
Traps
Rotator cuff
Hammer curls
Abb’s

Off + Grip work

You could try changeing your bench form to powerlifting form, getting your back and abbs stronger would help your squat and deadlift and the grip work would help your bench and deadlift.

Just something to consider…

that sounds good. it could put me in the gym 4 days a week–which would be great, but im gona see how bad this injury really is and just stick with the wsfsb template without the lower days. i could definitley do some extra ab work (something i have been slacking off with) and maybe some hypers and calves.
