Yeah unfortunately I tore my ACL tendon in my knee and im going to be out for a couple of months. As I still want to lose weight during this process I need to know how to maximize weight loss without the luxury of a lower body or cardio. Thanks.
Rowing - fast with medium resistance.
The insurance company bought me an exercise bicycle for recovery after ACL reconstruction. Also, the Doc had me in a continuous passive motion machine (see http://www.arthroscopy.com/sp06001.htm) immediately after surgery - and I mean immediately!
So unless you're somehow different, bicycling should be possible both for rehab and for burning calories. As usual, consult your doc/rehabber instead of relying on advice from strangers over the net.
