To Chicago's Personal Trainiers...

Hi everyone,

I'm currently pursuing a personal trainer certification. Problem is, I am not sure which direction to go. I am currently going over two different certification programs - NESTA and ISSA. I eventually intend on getting both, but like all things in life money is an issue so I need to pick one to start off with. I'm just not sure which one to go with.

Job placement is a huge plus which ISSA says it provides but I'm not sure how respected this certification is in the fitness industry. Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated. I've been a long time reader of this great site and have immense respect for the members of this forum. Thank you for reading this and helping a complete newbie. I hope to hear from someone soon...

Honestly, if your major concern is getting a job (in a typical gym for example), go with ACE.

Others to look into would be NASM, ACSM, or NSCA.

As for ISSA saying they will help you with job placement, I’m not sure how seeing as a place would be in need of more trainers to hire.

Also, there’s no need to get 2 certs that are entry level type of ones.
