To Become Stronger and Eventually Faster

I just noticed you’ve been posting with no responses. Glad back on wagon. What kinds of jump roping do you do…there are so many. That sucka really helps with my form and conditioning. Haven’t used mine in a bit but hopefully will be back at it. Hope you keep it up as long as it doesn’t tear you up🙃

Thanks for responding, I had family in town for a short time and then went on vacation to California for a few weeks. A couple of other things happened but I can’t seem to remember what they were lol. At the time, I had planned to train when I was in California, but I had too much fun being with the family and decided to take an extended deload.

Currently, I just do normal jump ropes lol, eventually I would like to work towards doing 100 reps normally then 100 reps single leg with both legs. However, just doing 100 reps and then agile 8 today really took a lot out of me lol.

Oh it will…but is all worth it. Double jumps and backward jumps help, too. Btw, I lived in Ca for a bit. It’s a bit of a distraction when you’re close to Napa and Tahoe

Ohh nice, my wife’s family is located in the Sacramento area so we go down there once or twice a year. We always contemplate moving back to Cali but after spending a couple weeks there usually in the summer we are quickly reminded of how fair and nice our summers are in North Idaho. This last trip has really been apparent of how much I hate the heat lol. I just couldn’t acclimate or do much of anything except complain lol.

I lived in fair oaks. Great running and isn’t that hot lol…but oh, so many things to do and see.

Alright so been a while since I posted but I have been training when I can. Just been pretty busy with life and working towards finding a new job/career. I will be updating from my training log I keep at home.

Warm up was 100 jump ropes and Agile 8

Box jumps x10

Deads
5x145
5x170
5x190
BBB at 115

gym was fairly busy and so I did not superset any assistance with my supplemental lifts.

Assistance
Dips = 9,9,9,9, 8.5 could not lock out last rep.
leg raises = 5x10
Lat pull down machine 42.5lb = 10,10,10,10,9 stopped since last rep was grindy and form was starting to fail.

Notes* I noticed that when I would focus on hip hinging while deadlifting I would not drag the bar against my shins. This has been my first session where my shins are not torn up. I believe I am starting to become more efficient with my conventional form, which is awesome.

Ran 2000m at 1,0% and 5.0MPH, approx. 15mins.

Deadlifting session was great overall, bar speed was explosive and controlled.

9-9-2018

Warm up was 100 jump ropes and Agile 8

Box jump x10

Bench
5x145
5x165
5x185
SSL at 165

Bench pressing today was pretty freaking hard and discouraging. When I started my warm up sets, I was unable to keep my body tight and my shoulders would slide on the bench, mentally and physically pulling me out. Thankfully, I carry in my gym bag some liquid chalk and pasted the bench with it, afterwards I was able to properly work and keep my shoulders in place and body tight. However, my top set was really heavy and bar speed had definitely slowed down and I was grinding out my last two reps. I will have to reset my TM but I really do not want too. However, I have been making near constant progress with my bench since I started over a year ago so its not all bad.

Did not superset assistance with supplemental

Assistance
Standing OH DB press 35lbs = 5x10
back raises = 5x10
Cable Rowing machine 55lbs = 5x10 was super easy and will be loading more weight next time.

Ran 2000m at 1.0% and 5.0MPH, approx. 15 mins
