Tito....Highest Paid Fighter of All Time?

OMC

tito sucks

Good for Tito.

He’ll bring some more name recognition to the organization. I would pick Babalu over Tito, though. Financially, it might be a mistake not feeding him a well-known can or two first.

He outclassed the current UFC LHW Champ and Rashad Evans, which is pretty solid in my book. Machida was a bad matchup, but put him against a guy like Wand and I think you might be surprised.

What has babalu got in your opinion that can hurt Tito?

Tito has better standup IMO but I wonder how much the lack of a cage will effect him…no stacking his opponent up and pounding him out against the cage.

If I were optimistic I’d say we may finally see the standup and jitz skills of tito. I’m not though ;

The judging was a joke in the forrest fight. Not the biggest robbery I’ve ever seen but forrest should’ve won. And the fact that you’re saying that tito fighting to a draw with THE IMMORTAL rashad evans is proof of where he is talent-wise.

There’s not too many guys who could hang in the octagon with Chuck for as long as tito did in the second fight, and while tito did - i THINK - lose all 3 rounds of the machida fight, he almost beat him at the end, and he did go the distance (not that machida is, ahem, a finisher) the bottom line is that at this point tito’s ability to put asses in seats is WAY more attributable to his general showmanship than his skills. That’s not to say that babalu will definitely win however.

I agree with most of this, although I thought Tito did win that fight against Forrest (very close but he did edge out the 3rd round). Tito only lost to Rashad due to the point deduction for grabbing the fence.

You’re right, though, on your biggest point which is that Tito is more valuable to an organization right now as a draw rather than as a fighter. Obviously he needs to win some fights to keep his name up there, though, so who knows if Affliction will give him some easier opponents after Babalu (I think Tito will win this one) or if he’ll maybe move up and fight some of the lighter Heavyweight guys on the Affliction roster.

Good for him, though. It’s all about maximizing your earning power and Tito has done that.

That’s what you get for dating a former porn start.

They are going to go under if this is how they build the business.

USFL anyone?

Yep. Tito is garbage. He hasn’t beaten anyone good in a long time, and his game never evolves or improves. He’s a mouth.

Wasn’t Trump involved with that too?

I do agree with signing Tito. I’m also not reading too much into the “large” contract since it could be a large amount over a time period and including PPV buys, profit sharing, etc…

Yes he was. Trump seems to fail at everything but real estate.

I agree that this “large” contract is likely bogus but I don’t like how they are trying to build a business off the back of high priced over the hill fighters.

They will put on a few good shows but it won’t last unless they get some young talent in there.

I like the UFC/WEC model even if Dana White is a prick and underpays his fighters.

And you’ve done what in your life that entitles you to pass judgment on a professional fighter and former UFC champion?

In what area of your life have you achieved eliteness? Law? Politics? Business? Medicine?

Why? I really want to hear your theory.

Babalu is a grappler. Is Babalu going to take Ortiz down? How?

When was the last time Ortiz was swept in a fight? When was the last time Oritz was submitted? TKO’ed via ground-and-pound?

What’s your theory of how the fight will go down?

Looks like they’ve started to cover that with the likes of horodecki.
Who are you refering to when you say over the hill Zap? Fedor…Sylvia…arlovski…barnet…Nelson…lindland?? None of these are over the hill and are all main event material alone with the exception of maybe Nelson. Even Vitor impressed me at middle weight and he’s been over the hill for years. Still entertained and may get some momentum at middleweight. Bear in mind there are a lot more lining up to get onto aflictions books. The quality of their shows isn’t in jeopardy. The only weakness they may have is too much expenses. I hope not.

Boring fight in my opinion. Two wrestlers with similar striking. I think tito is going to be too strong for Renato. I would say tito in 3rd by GnP.

Frank Shamrock and Tito would be interesting. I think tito would be outclassed in that one. Frank is past his prime but still moves well and very well rounded. Talk about clash of the egos.

Would be worth it for the buildup alone

Considering what Affliction paid Sylvia, I would expect Tito to score over a million.

I think Tito is a goonball, but he will probably help out Affliction a lot.

With the exception of Fedor and Lindland I would say the best days are behind the rest. How may matchups can they make with that bunch before they run out of shows?

Is Horodecki going to fight for the UFC? That guy is a brawler - fun to watch.
