Tire Size For Strongman Training

I found a place that will give me a tire for flipping. What is a good size? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on how strong you already are and what you are using it for.

I think the local strongman meet here uses one around 550-600 pounds. But I think that is pretty light in comparison to most sanctioned meets.

400 - 800 lb weight range. Look for size 23.5 - 25. These tires will measure 5’ - 6’ across and 2’ - 3’ high. This should give you an idea. I had more info on the sizes but, I cant find it.

I want to use it for GPP. Thanks for the info.

For GPP I would go for a smaller tire, 4 or 5 hundred pounder.

Get a Goodyear R23.5-18 or 18.5 Offroad (more tread). That should weigh about 500#. They will get out this book and tell you what the thing should weigh NEW. But you need to subtract about 75# from that for tread loss and shear lying by the manufacturer.

Also make sure that thing is empty, water inside the tire can add about 100# or so.
