Could low body waking body temps contribute to low fT? why don’t the “idiots” check stuff like this? what do they do in all those years of school?
Thyroid problems can affect the vitality of other hormone systems and T levels can be lower. Usually seen with more profound problems. There is not much data.
KSman I posted some labs and body temps. pleaseeee have a look for me page 2… im wondering if i should just get off the shit and try a restart and find the route of my problem…
Great Post KSMAN! I am excited to learn all of this information about Iodine replacement and deficiencies; so many people in my life have thyroid issues, it is really an epidemic if not a pandemic problem. Heck, my temps are right at 97 in the A.M. gonna check my thermometer to make sure it is accurate (cheap 2.00 electronic meter) but I will start I.R. immediately. Makes so much sense, as I haven’t used iodized salt in 3 years since I started training! Thank you for the write up friend! I’m becoming more educated everyday.
When doing IR, do you also supplement with selenium?
I noticed bromine is in the chems that you put in most hot tubs and pools. It could be absorbed in the skin possibly from exposure to applying the chems or just recreational swimming and hot tub use.
Is tsh t3 t4 and thyrotropin ok for lab work or are ft3 and ft4 a must?
Most of these hormones are bound to binding proteins and not available to react with receptors and bound T4 cannot be converted to T3. So the bound values really do not tell you what you need to know. You can have good T4 and T3, but be below what you need with the free values.

yet the doctor didnt want to measure the free… so lets just measure the stuff that doesnt matter? why
stupidity, docs get through med school by having a good memory; analytical reasoning and independent thought are not required
KSman I was wondering if iodine supplementing is ok? Do you take potassium iodide or iodine from kelp? I read the maximum recommended allowance of dietary iodine is 1200 mcg, did I read right that you are suggesting 50mg ? I bought the KI (iodide) and took the pill and right after I read that it could be detrimental for those who have hoshimotos auto immune hypothyroid, but some say its okay to supplement even with the auto immune type. It’s really complicated and I’m confused. I stopped the iodine until I can get a tpo antibody test to see if I’m primary hypothyroidism or autoimmune type. I respect your advice otherwise I wouldn’t have bought the iodine in the first place, I need your help brother, my temps are low. Doctors say the autoimmune hypo is more common and that iodine deficiency is rare in USA.
Iodine deficiency was rare, but changes in what foods have iodine added, the drift towards using sea salt and eating prepared foods has made most iodine deficient. Doc is reading something that is 40 years old? Realities and facts change.
There is a difference between iodine replenishment [IR] and maintenance. For IR, to replenish with .75 grams [750 mg], you can take 50mg elemental iodine for two weeks. If your guts get upset, spread that out.
Many advocate 1mg/day. After IR, you may need less that that for maintenance.
Can’t advise further as there is no context or labs here.
Personal Testimony
First thanks to KSman who has helped many men over the years.
After reading the OP, I measured my morning temperature at 94.5. I had no idea it would be that low. I immediately started on 50 mg / day of potassium iodide and my morning temp has risen steadily to 97.3 where it has remained for about a week
Noticeable benefits have been better sleep, improved libido, and better concentration. I am 48 for the record.
I also have had no stomach upset from taking that size dose.
Definitely a high benefit to cost ratio
Just want to share
Thanks KSman, you are so well informed, I’m glad that you are educating and enlightening us on areas that are unforeseen. Keep up the good work friend!!
I will add just to give you my take on Iodine. All my records are in my log. I started with 50 mg if Iodine over 3 weeks ago. I took it every morning for 6 days. felt really good after the 3rd day. However, things went downhill after about the 5th day. I started to feel really lathargic, aching muscles, just not myself.
Over the next week I took a half a tablet about every 3rd day and after some research found that what I may have been going thru was the bromide being displaced. So last week I started back on 50mg every morning and some symptoms remain like metallic tast in my mouth and some lethargy, but not near as bad. My afternoon temp today was 98.5 which is up. I will continue to take 50mg daily through this week and report any changes in my log.
Hope this helps someone.
What were your temp levels before iodine replacement ?
Can i do these types of test when on cycle? Mainly the temperature test, will test e efect this?

Mornings were anywhere between 96.1 nd 97. Afternoon never reached above 97.8.
This morning it was 97.3 and yesterday afternoon it was 98.6
Here is my log 48 Year Old… Iodine Replacem…
I have been thinking that iodine replenishment [IR] might have some ability to reduce snoring. If that is the case, snoring might be a symptom, to some degree in some cases, of iodine deficiency or hypothyroidism. There is some chatter about this on the WWW, but it is quite weak. My snoring is much less after my IR.
In may case, TRT did increase my snoring and that seems to be a common problem.
Looking at fatty liver disease [FLD] at Wikipedia, I note that there is an association with hyperthyroidism. My guess is that this may be a cause/contributor and not an symptom. During a fatty liver disease diagnostic, lab work probably leads to ‘discovery’ of hypothyroidism. The association with iodine deficiency or subclinical hypothyroidism might be quite strong. As insulin resistance is considered a cause of FLD, and hypo thyroid function reduces one’s metabolic rate, leading to a caloric excess, weigh gain, this also looks like a pattern.
