Throwing up

ok i was eating my chicken and green beans tonight, and while i was chewing my last bite of chicken something triggered my gag reflex and i lost my lunch, literally everything i had just taken including fish oils, in the sink. i waited about 5 minutes to settle down, and then had something a little easier to eat: tuna and salad. was this the right thing to do b/c none of the nutrients had time to be digested? also, on a topic related to this issue, should the workout be ceased after throwing up, or should you let your stomach relax and then finish up? thanks (god i feel like a pregnant woman asking these questions!)
