Don’t join the dark side, Soulja. They all have butlers, eat organic fruit, own a Prius, smoke the reefer, and are all full of themselves.

Stay on the East Coast. Stay in the South. We’re down to earth people.
@skaz05 | I’ve been to Riverside and it looked worst than my hometown and I got outta there when I was 17 so no go on that. x2 on Pollo Loco, that’s what I’m talkin about when I said I miss West Coast food.

@Andrew | I never heard of Orange but I’ll be sure to check it out. I don’t have anything against LA I just know I can’t afford to stay there quite yet.

@OC | I dunno about going to Oceanside, I’ve been around military for most of my life (Army/Air Force) and I’m kinda tired of the lifestyle but I’ll keep it in mind. What are those jobs that people don’t want?

@ Wol | Damnit! I want all of that!! Well everything except the Prius gimme a Camero instead. Did you see what skaz05 posted? Hot dumb white wimenz! You know how I love the white wimenz… you guys didn’t see that…

Thanks for all the info guys keep it coming.
They’re nothing but posers over there, Soulja. White chicks included. But fine, you made your choice. When the great war comes and you’re on the West Coast, I will not show mercy.
There’s that southern boy charm!
You forgot to mention our Southern Hospitality, mam.
We don’t have chicken and waffles, … or at least I haven’t seen one, but we do have the best Mexican food.

There’s a Taco Bell everywhere around here. East Coast 1, West Coast 0.

You know we have the marines and the navy here don’t you? There is a lot of military in San Diego.

BUT we also have a lot of colleges and universities, lots of great beach, lots of mountains, even good fishing and the only warm weather Olympic training facility.

Lots of cashier jobs, lots of retail jobs, lots of accounting and IT jobs (think Geek Squad). We have a lot of casinos and you can do different types of jobs there from valet, facilities, cashier, accounting, dealer or security.

In and Out burger starts at $11.00 an hour with benefits. Jack in the Box has a gym on its premises for the employees. Qualcomm, SAIC, and Sea World.

I don’t know what you do.
Yea I know, Nothing against the Corps itself but most of the marines I’ve met have been assholes so I’d rather avoid them.

I’ve always found it hilarious that fast food jobs in Cali have all these perks that you never see anywhere else in the country (A gym in Jack in the Crack? That’s ludicrous)

I have warehouse experience and was an electrician for a couple of years. I want to be a physicians associate though so I’m thinking about becoming a EMT while I go to school.

I was going to make a “Thinking about moving Cali” thread, but can’t make it work.

There’s a ma and pop (or should I say madre and padre?) on every street on the West Coast. You can get a burrito the size of your forearm for 5 bucks. Sorry homie that’s destroys anything Taco Hell has.

East Coast -1, West Coast 1

Points deducted and transferred for even bring up Taco Hell

Edit- I represent the Midwest no matter what so do whatchu do homie.

So now you’re too good to eat Taco Bell? You’re too high and mighty? You haven’t even moved yet and you’re become snobby just like those West Coasters.

You want a mini Umbrella in your beer or are you too good for beer?

The West Coast has beaches you can go to ALL year round… We don’t have to worry about dealing with snow unless we’re going to big bear… We have happy cows! Everyone knows Cali has happy cows!!

East Coast-1, West Coast: like a billion

Nah just a slice of Lime and make sure the beer a whole wheat organic beer with no animal testing.

That means you can’t drink any of it.

Organic wheat beer, mini umbrellas, lemon lime, blah blah blah blah blah.

Yea I got something for ya…

Wait a sec…

If you are going to move out here and start school I would wait awhile because they are going to charge you as assload for out of state fees until you have been a resident long enough.

That’s why I need to find someone to let me use their address so I can get state residency. Dunno if I’m gonnna go thru with it yet.

Aside from it being expensive, what’s the Bay Area like when it comes to living there?

It should be noted my hippie-tolerance is quite high.

I just came back from visiting my brother in Irvine. I live in butt-fuck Michigan and I hadn’t been back in 6 years. I ate at El Pollo Loco and In and Out burger for three days straight. You really don’t know what you got until it’s gone. I’m moving back to as soon as I can. Probably Anaheim. I was born there.

Aww it’s not so bad around here, eh?

How short sighted you are Andrew … The East Coast ALSO has beaches you can go to year round … it’s called FLORIDA, GEORGIA, SOUTH CAROLINA

Dumbass.

Oh and I lived in So Cal for 12 years … bullshit you can go to the beaches year round, it gets cold there too

I’ve visited Cali twice (Huntington Beach and San Diego).
I love the west coast. The people are warm and look you in the eye. Here, everyone’s so uptight and always seem to be in a fucking hurry to get somewhere.

Santa Barbara’s hella expensive.
How expensive is hella expensive? They have an excellent PhD program for my field at UC-Santa Barbara and I’m strongly considering them (assuming I get accepted of course) but an assistantship would only give me 26k/year. Would I end up living in my own urine on the boardwalk with that amount of money?

I agree with some of the above posts, that Cali has a number of problems, you might want to reconsider.

Worst economy in the country, one of the highest unemployment rates, housing sucks and is pricy, highest taxes in the nation, a fucking stupid statewide legislature, schools suck ass, I mean I can’t imagine why someone would want to come here. Pros might be the weather and hot stuck up worthless women (not all but more than any one state would ever need.)

You paint such a majestic, dreamy picture it’s making it very difficult for me to stay away!!

(from living there … visiting sounds nice though)

NorCal.

Lived here my whole life, Bay Area then moved bout 50 miles east, into the more affordable valley to buy a home.

Cali has everything. I’m 2 hours from the beaches around Santa Cruz. 2 hours from Tahoe and the mountains. 3 hours to Yosemite.

Fresh fruit and Vegetables year round, no shit.

In the Valley, it’ll be in the 100 degree range till the end of October. The Bay Area will be socked in with fog, and be in the 60’s and 70’s.

Max is right, the economy sucks, and housing costs and taxes are too high.

Help?

Big ups to both SD and the Bay Area as I’ve lived in both locales and cannot go wrong with either one.
Bad areas in SD - Most areas of East San Diego, City Heights, Logan Heights, Shelltown, etal.
Bad areas in SF/Bay area - East Oakland, Bay View District, Hunters Point, the Fillmore, Richmond, East Palo Alto, etal.
Gay Area in SF - the Castro
Gay Area in SD - Hillcrest
SD and Bay area have different takes on the carne asada burrito.
Bay Area has more Chinese people per square inch hence better Chinese food. SD has more Mexicans hence more taco shops.
SD is thick w/ fine women of different races. Bay Area has fine women who like those dudes that are 6’1", 145lbs, and wear xtra medium t-shirts and bootcut jeans.
SD still manages to maintain a small town feel. Bay Area is fast and cosmopolitan.
More lifted trucks in SD. More Priuses and Subarus in Bay Area.
Bay Area is more cutting edge than SD (Google, Craigslist, Oracle, Genentech, Amgen, Silicon Valley). SD has biotech, tech industry, and military.
Bay Area has great schools i.e. Stanford, Berkeley, UCSF, SFSU, USF. SD has good schools i.e. UCSD, SDSU, USD.
Bay Area in locally grown, grass-fed, and free range. SD not so much but definitely gaining momentum in that department especially in more trendy areas.
Bay Area has the fog which creeps over SF during the summertime. SD has June gloom whereby the marine layer covers the beaches.
SD has a better saltwater fishery for the solo angler (kayak fishing, float-tubing, surf-fishing, surfboard fishing). Bay Area has more waterways for freshwater fishing that eventually feed into the bay where one could then saltwater fish.
Both cities are very liveable but very expensive.
Both cities are conducive to exercise but SD is better at showing more skin.
If you want the seasons, Bay Area. If you want more sun and relatively unchanging climate, SD.
I bought in SD where I could only rent in Bay Area.
Did I mention the fine-ass bitches in SD??
