I’m on my 3rd cycle. I’ve never had any serious muscle pains before. Sure it hurt like I’d been corked in the shoulder/ass, but nothing like this. I injected Friday day. By Saturday night my leg had ballooned (btw this was my first ever quad shot. I usually do glutes and delts.) heaps with swelling and redness and I was limping like a war vet. Then today (Monday morning) I went and got an ultra sound as my leg is still massively painful.
The result was that one of my quads has receded (or retracted, can’t exactly remember) and the other has a big ol’ tear in it. I used a 23g 1 1/2inch syringe, injecting 2ml of oil. When I injected my lower leg was at a 90 degree angle to my thigh, and completely relaxed. I picked a bit of quad, stuck it in, unpinched, aspirated and slowly, over about 90-120 seconds pushed down the plunger.
It just makes no sense that I tore my quad from a syringe! The pain was so intense though that I believe him when he says I tore it. It gives out when walking, I can’t fully extend/straighten my leg or make my heel touch my hamstring like I normally can. Range of motion has been smashed.
The only thing I can think of is that it’s a huge knot in the muscle? I wasn’t honest with the doctor or the guy at the radiology place. So a tear and knot might look really similar on an ultra sound? Any way…do you guys have any thoughts on this?
Also I am TERRIFIED of shooting into my quad again, to the point where I won’t try it for at least another year or two. Can I just do alternating glutes for the next 6 biweekly injections? That will see me through to the end of this mini cycle. I’ve never had a bad glute shot, and with delts I’ve had a few real corkers that I was willing to deal with, but this quad pain has just put me off of shooting anywhere that is even remotely firm, my ass is squishy and perfect for pinning.

First mistake, you had your leg bend, which stretches the quad. 23g is a pretty big needle. To me, it sounds logical that on a stretched muscle, since muscle fibers are somewhat like a rubber band, a 23g could tear it.Also, when having medical issues, ALWAYS be honest.
