The Wrong Army

This is really good.

I don’t know how celebs got the primary blame for the naysaying of military preparedness. They may run their mouths but for this issue they’re of tertiary importance. The loudest complaints and declarations regarding the supposed inadequacies of the military come from the politicians and the military itself. Interservice rivalries and the competition for money motivate the “complainers” in the military leadership. The higherups know that worst-case doomsday predictions get more attention and money than more measured analysis. At the same time the desire for political points and more importantly the drive to get procurement contracts for their districts drive the politicians. I’m reminded of the assault aircraft carrier procured a few years back by Lott to be produced in an LA shipyard which the Navy didn’t even want.
