Correct. The writers know where they need to be at certain points in the series and have the bigger story mapped out. They dont know exactly what they will be doing from week to week though.

I also just started watching the series a little while ago. I’m all caught up in time for the finale. I remember reading in the paper about a month ago that there would be content exclusive to the website, mini episodes, that wouldnt need to be watched to follow the show, but would nevertheless tie in. i poked around the website, but the podcasts dont sound like what I’m looking for. Anyone else heard anythign about this?[/quote]
There is a game called the lost experience which revolves around the Hanso Foundation.
Info about it can be found at http://www.lostpedia.com and on the official abc site. The game involves “hacking” the hansofoundation.org site and other sites the creators have set up.
There is a also a book called Bad Twin coming out, which Sawyer read the manuscript of in series 2. Its meant to be written by Gary Troup (anagram= purgatory) who died in the plane crash, but its really ghost written by a famous author (maybe James Patterson or Steven King). This also ties in to the game and things that happen in the series.
One more thing is that the actor who plays Hugh McIntyre on the Hanso Foundation website is making an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel live as his character. Apparently he will be slating the show, saying how it is portraying the Hanso Foundation in a bad light.
The writers are trying to blend the show into reality, which I think is a pretty cool way to keep the fans involved.
