The Term "Gear" for AAS

When did the the bodybuilding/weightlifting community start calling AAS’s “Gear”? Back in the day our shop talk word was “'Roids”, if mentioned at all.

The term “gear” was used by some powerlifters that I knew when they referenced briefs, lifting suits, and bench shirts that provided significant support, as in using “gear” or lifting “raw.”

I had competed in powerlifting before support gear was legal. Then Ace bandage wraps were used as knee wraps and 4" weight belts for core support.
