After a long absence I decided to start logging my training here again, even if it’s just once a week for my own benefit and for anyone else interested.
I’ve made some significant changes to my training and diet in the last twelve weeks.
I joined a small garage strongman/powerlifting gym in Adelaide (south australia) and it fucking kicks ass. One tiny mirror, heaps of bands and chains and stones and kegs, farmers handles and sleds. No more waiting for bro’s to get out of the squat rack, just t…

Background
Competetive distance runner for about a decade, decided to take up lifting 4 years ago. Went from 140 lbs to my current heaviest at 178 lbs. Looking to compete in my first strongman event at the end of the summer because, well, it looks fun.
Here’s the before pic, doing one last peak cycle for squat and bench then I’ll start working on getting the abs back

Edit: thought I’d add 2 photos to show the full 2018 change. Fat 178 to lean 170 to slightly less fat…

Hello everyone. I’m not really new to T Nation, more so just new to actually signing up and saying hello. I’ve sat and read almost every single article on T Nation. And I’m happy that I have a very reliable source of info when it comes to body building. I’m currently in college studying to be a Hematologist, and an aspiring powerlifter. Most people refer to me as a black sheep, or a flower child. I’m kind of just always relaxing in my mind, and doing my best to see results from the effort I put …

Little background on me for this thing. I’m 5’10", 38 with 2 kids, and have been training for over 20 years. Training for this was strength and conditioning. Started with 5/3/1 run in an alpha (neversate) template, ending running “Russian strength skill” with strongman type conditioning. I’m a carnivore guy but it isn’t my religion. As I got more into the dieting, I was using coffee, diet drinks, and other sweeteners along with plenty of low calorie sauces. Pretty much slow and steady the whole time (with a couple pauses for things like birthdays) slowly pulling away fat calories and adding protein. Went from about 300 grams of protein and 4500 calories to 400+ grams of protein 2400 calories by the end.
