The Official Looney Toons Thread

I have been meaning to do this for a while, but Rainjack finally pushed me over the edge.

For my money there has never been and may never be better humor in any medium than Looney Toons.

Absolute genius on every level.

Those folks out back in the termite terrace left a legacy of excellence that I never get tired of. I’m chucklin right now thinking of that femmy bullfighter looking left into the camera and flaring that nostril in all his prissified glory.

They sometimes show them on cartoon network.

That’s a hilarious episode when bugs fighting the bull. I wish I can find it.

GREAT thread, guys!

Remember, that these Cartoons were meant to stand on their own, and were not meant as “filler” between cereal and action figure commercials.

They were often the prelude to feature films, and only later became part of regular Saturday Morning fare.

When we say one of these things is a “classic”, it really is a “Classic Short”, that if there was a category back then, would have qualified many of these shorts for an Academy Award.

Read what “Wiki” has to say about “One Froggy Evening” (perhaps one, if not THE one, of my personal all-time favorites):

Mufasa

Daffy Duck is the man!

Glad to see I’m not alone guys.

I actually read that wiki article several months ago. I’m with ya there. That short piece is without a doubt one of the all time classics in film. I can’t even type this with a straight face thinking of the look on that guys face as the frog starts singing “hello my honey” on the lid of that box.

And see there’s the genius. There is ZEEROH dialog. The only words at all are the frog singing. The rest is done with situations, mannerisms and facial expressions.

The guy ends up in a cell and you see his scowled profile in the background as the frog swoons and croons all over the bars on his window. Who could think that shit up?

Hillbilly hare is another one. He starts a square dance with those two and has em beatin the livin hell outta each other.

How bout when Bugs is doing the pink monster’s “hair”? OMG!!!
“Why I was just thaying to my girlfriend the other day, (bobby pins pleathe) if an iiinteresting monster can’t have an iiintersting hair doo, MYYYY STARS, I just don’t knnow what things are coming to. Let’s dip our paddies in the waaater”
ROFLMAO!!! seriously

They’re available on DVD, though.

I can’t recall the name of this particular one, but it’s starring a flea. At one point the dog starts dragging his itchy ass around the room’s rug, then stops, looks at the viewer and says, “I better cut this out before I start liking it.” LOL

Now THAT wasn’t meant for kids to understand. LOL

For those unfortunate few that have never seen it:

In April every year there is a Warner Brothers animation festival in Boston Symphony Hall. Looney Tunes on the big screen. Except for the kids it’s great.
