The Next President of the United States: IV

Rajraj, where are you?

Is this more Trumpian genius doled out, like all the lies, “for effect”?

He’s just responding to the poll numbers. How else is he going to know what people want?

:expressionless:

But I want to say one thing to the American people.
I want you to listen to me. I’m going to say this again:

I.did.not.have deportation relations with that immigrant woman,

If he’s truly caving on immigration he’s going to lose the election.

Could be testing the waters based on polls as mentioned above. We will find out when he gives his immigration speech.

That was the first thing I said when I heard Trump speech. “We will keep the good ones. Pay back taxes and no citizenship.” All the same bullshit Rubio was peddling years ago.

Latest Reuters/Ipsos poll has him down by 5, last week he was down by 12. His die hard fans won’t budge.

You are exactly correct. Once a voter is committed to a candidate they usually stay committed especially this late in the game. What Trump is doing is what every other politician does. Trump is trying to win the race by appealing to wider base of people after winning the nomination. Trump is actually late to the party on this, but absolutely not too late. It’s called swinging to the middle. Soon if he plays it correctly he will begin accusing Hillary of being too far left as she had to swing left because Bernie pulled her in that direction.

Wasn’t the (purported) appeal of Trump that he didn’t do such things, that he was genuine, that he spoke his mind without fear and polling, that he was different from the professional politicians, and that’s what made him so turbo-awesome?

Now you’re saying he’s none of that, but instead a panderer and shrewd trimmer looking to tell people what they want to hear in order to win votes?

Everyone should realize that Donald Trump became a politician as soon as he announced that he was running for President. Granted he’s not a very good politician but nonetheless he is one. In fact soon he might even have his own foundation and take money from middle eastern countries that abuse women and children. He might even take a step into the illegal and bring down an FBI investigation onto himself by other multiple shady dealings. And if it is a true political team Melania Trump will begin sexually attacking young men and using her power and influence to bed down other willing participants.

No wait…only the Clintons have done such things. Typical politicians just flip flop and move to the middle after the nomination is won.

That may have been the purported appeal, but not purported by me.

I’ve been pretty sure from the get go that he agitated his opponents into saying dumb things on camera and ruining their own campaigns, makes sensationalized statements to get attention, and capitalized on relationships with large media outlets to dominate the airwaves.

I’ve also been pretty sure that an asshole like him wants nothing to do with or for someone, or anyone, like me. Nor is he in touch with “the common man”. I’ll start believing that when me and Dick Cheney get back from our fly fishing outing.

I just thought it was hilarious that on his maiden voyage into politics he smoked 17 other seasoned, professional liars.

I still stand by the statement that even if by some supernatural act he manages to win the white house, he will be struck down by a random meteor before crossing the threshold of the front door.

Seems accurate. I’ve always liked Anthony Jeselnik.

You’ve obviously never taken a size 8 wooly bugger to the noggin!

“It’s possible that public opinion shifts dramatically between now and then. But if it doesn’t, Donald Trump has no path to the presidency.”

And this should shock nobody with a grasp of reality.

It’s really sad that the GoP went full retard. Yet again snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

But if/when Hillary wins, the tantrums will be blaming everyone except the worst candidate in modern history. It will be the liberal media and how they wouldn’t adequately go after Hillary. It will be all the Never Trumpers who stayed home, or voted for someone else. Anyone, anything but the candidate himself.

It’s amusing - Romney’s loss is often blamed on the base staying home, unhappy at the lack of a “true conservative” at the top of the ticket. Yet the base’s absence in 2012 led to the re-election of a constitution-shredding socialist and the opportunity for more liberal Supreme Court appointments and the last, best chance to repeal Obamacare.

But where were the recriminations at the base for allowing this to happen? Was Sean Hannity, king clown at this point, shaming Never Romneys in the way he’s gone all in for Trump?

It was ok for the base to vote their conscience in 2012 (when a far superior candidate was on the ticket), which enabled a second Obama term, but voting your conscience this time around is a betrayal?

The GOP could have won this in a walk. In a walk.

The party of Lincoln is no more. Trump finished it off.
