The Next President of the United States: IV

It never seems to matter with them. We have had eight years of a super liberal, and 40% of Democrats voted for an outright socialist in the primary. When there guys fail, to them it’s because they didn’t go far enough due to obstruction.

So a candidate has a sense of humor - that’s not worth the time taken to view the clip. The burning question is: what do hypnotist-trained cartoonists think about him?

As we all know: On the highest plane of pure Persuasion, the sense of humor deforms to precisely the same extent that the þ-value of the Master Persuader’s Master Persuasion deviates from the Expected Persuasion Outcome achieved by a pre-defined set of Persuasion Techniques employed by a replacement-level Persuader.

I agree. Having a sense of humor is great but gary Johnson is known for pot use and all this does is make him look like he’s on drugs. The first reaction by the interviewer is to flinch away from him then make things less awkward with a pity laugh.

If scott adams who has been very accurate on predicting the election is dumb what does that make you?

The truth is you’ve spent your whole life living in a bubble of liberal culture and you are having a hard time accepting the fact that millions of Americans think completely different than you do.

Pandermonium. Much like the first list of potential justices, this list is designed for raw political effect. Note the number from battleground states and the inclusion of Senator Lee (hoping for a Ted Cruz blessing and holding Utah in his column):

This is so ham-handed and transparent it defies description.

Ted cruz just endorsed Trump

No, the truth is that I love my country enough to be disgusted when racist, cretinous losers like you slither up through the plumbing and begin tracking shit all over the inside of what used to (and will again) be the best joint on the block.

This is why I think ted cruz endorsed Trump. He is seeing the inevitably of a Trump presidency and knows he can’t be the Republican party nominee for at least 8 years.

Ted said he would support the nominee, his political career would be over if he renegged.

So very, very narrowly, the keys point to a Trump victory. But I would say, more to the point, they point to a generic Republican victory, because I believe that given the unprecedented nature of the Trump candidacy and Trump himself, he could defy all odds and lose even though the verdict of history is in his favor…

Inevitability? Do you even read the stuff you post?

Yes I do, and the fact remains that Cruz promised to endorse the nominee irrelevant of a Trump win or loss. For the remainder of Ted’s career, he would be pummeled over not keeping to his word.

I think this could also be political cover in the event of a narrow Trump loss, Cruz would not want to be blamed for keeping some of the base at home.

This is an interesting point, Max.

It is evident that all Nationally known members of the Republican Party have clearly chosen what “camp” they are in; either for or against Trump. (Some have even endorsed Clinton).

Most appear to be positioning themselves for a Trump LOSS as opposed to a Trump WIN and hope to lead the GOP to a new era. (I personally don’t think that Trump will be involved that much in Republican politics should he lose).

It seems like under all the smoke, mirrors and “prayer”; Cruz continues to be the Political Opportunist he always has been, and is solidifying his base of supporters who most likely are enthusiastically behind Trump.

"The Pussy “Lyin’ Ted” (Trumps words) needs that base for his next run for President…and Trump (if he wins) is his key to a possible Supreme Court nomination.

“Lyin’ Ted” is very SMART Ted, if you ask me.

But Cruz could have endorsed at the convention for all the same reasons he listed in this late-coming endorsement - there’s nothing new of substance that Cruz can credibly say changed his mind. Instead, at the convention, he chose to lob a grenade into the mix in hopes of sinking Trump at the convention.

As you note, he’s only endorsing as an insurance policy on his own future in the policy - the difference is, in my view, that won’t be well received down the road.

I think it is a tactical mistake. If I’m Cruz, I never kiss Trump’s ring. If Trump wins, congratulate him, but maintain your conservative opposition to everything Trump does while in the Senate.

Now this is interesting.

I was listening to some pundits who were saying that what Cruz did wasn’t an “endorsement” of Trump…he was just saying that he would vote for Trump.

???

Do you guys have any thoughts on the difference?

I’m beginning to think that Cruz should take on the “Slick Willie” mantra…

I absolutely think he’s prepared to exploit the difference. If Trump gets elected, Cruz will self-praise his action and try to claim his “endorsement” helped rally the base to the polls for the victory. If Trump loses, Cruz will say it was only a vote and I was simply being a loyal Republican doing my NeverHillary duty.

He’ll try to have it both ways. He is as calculating a politician as there is in the game.
