The Next President of the United States: III

Oh I agree, if Trump does not appear as a third party candidate I would imagine that the majority of his supporters would not vote. Since he appears to be a protest candidate in the first place.

I would vote for another GOP nominee, just not Trump.

If Trump gets the nom, I will vote for Gary Johnson as a write in.

A couple of things about that.

  1. Trump contrary to what he tells everyone is NOT worth 10 billion dollars. On top of that the majority of his money is tied up in real estate. That means he doesn’t have a whole lot of ready cash to pour into organizations all across the country.

  2. He needs to get his name on the ballot in each of the 50 states. This is not an easy task and takes coordination and also plenty of money for people to speak on his behalf.

  3. If Trump thought he could have pulled off a third party run he would have. Now as a spoiler he could ask people to write his name in. He would no doubt attract a good number of people. Who these people are I’m not quite sure.

Overall if it came down to it I would much rather have Trump run as an independent than represent the republican party. If that means that we lose the White Hose to Hillary Clinton so be it. At this point after his incredibly dumb comments this week, along with his usual random stupid comments I no longer feel he could beat Hillary anyway. I would rather go down to defeat (if that must be the case) with someone like Cruz or even Kasich representing the party.

But, I am still optimistic that Hillary will not win the White House.

What if both Bernie and Trump ran third party candidacy’s? Ha ha four people running for President.

Ladies and Gentlemen, on record, we have Zeb saying there IS a way Hillary can win.

The GOP could have run Romney or McCain and won this election by 15% points…easily.

But they were knocked on their ass by their own hubris…fuck the GOP.

I have voted for conservative or Libertarian candidates in every election, but never before has somebody pissed me off like the GOP did this election cycle.

What Hubris was it that you think led the GOP down this path?

It seems to me their problem was overestimating their constituency. Time after time they expected the Trump wave to fizzle as people would begin to think rationally about the candidate. I mean they did give us 17 candidates to choose from originally, it seemed they were actually trying to give the voting block a full plate to choose from. It wasn’t until Trump went off the rails and then gained steam that they tried to intervene to prevent a poor choice.

Agreed. I switched my party affiliation to undecided due to this nonsense.

Good post. Trump self-funding is one of the big cons of his campaign, because he still accepts the little people’s money. Trump keeps talking about the millions and millions from all his friends from all over that he turns down; uh, there are rules against that, and these people know you and know that if they could actually donate those millions directly to Trump there would be quid pro quo down the road.

…I see you’re coming around to my prediction of a Cruz/Kasich compromise ticket…let’s hope

McCain is 79, so…plus he’s lost me ever since The Palin Pick.

I still can’t believe Romney lost to Obama. Romney totally destroyed Obama in their first campaign debate when Obama’s handlers underestimated Romney and did not have Obama wound up and propped up.

To me, that was Obama’s “the Emperor has no clothes” moment but obviously nobody paid attention. The guy is so arrogant and full of himself, but the bottom line (his views aside) is that there is just no meat on those skinny bones.

Trump’s people comparing his situation to Reagan vs. Carter is another (attempted) big con. Unfavorable ratings are the most difficult thing to overcome -it means people know you and Do. Not. Like. You. Women represent the majority of voters and their unfavorable rating for Trump is over 70%…yep, Trump is making history all over the place!

That is a big difference vs. simply trailing the other guy, in which case all you have to do is convince people they don’t really know you and that it they did they would vote for you.

If you are going to quote me be accurate:

“But, I am still optimistic that Hillary will not win the White House”

I remember Reagan’s negatives and they were high. But, two big differences. The first is they were not even close to Trump’s numbers. Reagan hovered around 50%. Secondly, once the general population got to know him during the general election his negatives fell very quickly.

In short there is no comparison relative to negatives between Trump and Ronald Reagan. None…zip…zero.

The best thing Trump can do for the party is to exit the race and toss his delegates to Cruz. But, we have a better chance of aliens landing and taking Obama for a flying saucer ride.

Richard Marcinko founded SEAL Team 6 (the Navy’s equivalent of Delta Force) and went on to found Red Cell, the creation of which he was tasked with by Lyons. Marcinko and Beckwtih are peers, not Lyons and Beckwith. Last time I checked, we aren’t discussing the intricacies of surface warfare.

You misunderstand the American foreign policy establishment and think tanks place in it. Former practioners (trigger pullers among them), are not a rarity and are highly valued.

So do I. Torture and the nursed of noncombatants doesn’t contribute to American national security. It damages it.

Answer the questions. They came straight from Lyons mouth.

I look down on those who arrogantly and abrasively assert themselves in discussions of subjects they have devoted exactly zero diligent study toward. I’m not claiming to be an expert, but you aren’t so much as a dilletante.

Chis Wallace interviewing Trump on Fox News Sunday:

Wallace: Do you have any evidence that Cruz gave the independent superpac the ad featuring a picture of your wife?

Trump: My evidence is common sense.

This is the guy who could be in command of the armed forces of the United States…

Random thought-

Who here thinks Jerry Brown of CA would have been a legitimate candidate for winning the whole thing if he ran for the Presidency this year?

Governor Moonbeam?

(This makes it 20 characters.)

You’re not claiming to be an expert ?

He, the 29 year old who degraded those who chose not to pursue a post graduate degree in political science, is now claiming to not be an expert ?

This has to be the funniest attempt at humble bullshit I have read in awhile, thank you for the laugh.

We can all see how much success a crazy old Socialist has had. I completely agree with you the democrat party has slid so far left that yes even Governor Moonbeam would have a good chance of defeating Hillary Clinton.

Only poking Zeb, we’ve all heard you touting how Hillary has no-chance…I had to jump on that one. :grinning:
