Yes, sanity and Islam can live together. It is a matter of respecting other people’s freedoms and resorting to violence only in clear-cut self-defense cases.
No, Being “wacked out fucking crazy” is not a prerequisite to endorsing Islam. However, it may be useful when going for extremist ideologies.

There are occurrences of domestic violence to this degree all the time in judeo-christian culture. The fact that you use this instance as an attack on a religion and culture is backwards in its own nature. I understand the complaint that fundamentalist islam is based on violence. But to use every instance that occurs within a muslim household as evidence against the nature of Islam becomes a tad banal.

While violence happens everywhere, this kind of violence is epidemic within islam. If I were to point out every instance I run across I would surpass banal in about an hour and would push virtually every other topic off the board.
My original assessment was harsh and emotive, but there is so much violence in islam, it is hard not to be at times. I am also a father, when somebody hurts a child I get really pissed.

Saudi Arabia is doing far more to destabilize Iraq than Iran could ever hope to achieve. The bulk of Al-Qaeda is Saudi. I sincerely fail to see how things could get any worse there. But assuming it does get worse, and the subsequent regime threatens your country, that’ll be a nice occasion to whack them.
But the consensual American foreign policy isn’t about making sense. It’s about making money, winning markets, and an ever-expanding sphere of influence. That’s why the Washington establishment needs the Al-Sauds. No matter how badly the Saudis screw up, the White House will always find a way to blame someone else for that. Damn petrodollars!
