Are you planning to run the program as written or are you going to add a couple weeks of higher reps (10-12 per set)?

I’m planning 2 weeks of 12 reps and 2 weeks of 10 reps.
I’ll evaluate on the fly, it could be 1 week 12 reps and 2 week of 10’s.

After week one of 5 x 12 you might reconsider and just jump into the original week one

2800 calories yesterday.
Seems like 2800 has become my new maintenance number.
To really mess with my PR lifts coming up, today I’ll be starting badminton season.

Eat more.

I’ll eat more when I start the SGSS program, that is right after the testing.
It’s more badminton is quite taxing or at least I get sore AF in the days after the first couple of times I play.

A bit tired from badminton yesterday. Lifts where great though. Getting the form down quite well I think.

Shitty rainy weather today, so I took the bike for work first time since april.

Next two days are long days at work. Tomorrow about 15 hours or so. Wednesday “only” 11.

Two days without training at all. Thursday is the start of the testing.

Brian says test over two weeks, I think that is too long time, so I’ll be lifting every other day,
Wednesday OHP,
Saturday Squat,
Monday (or Tuesday) Bench
Wednesday (or Thursday) DL.

What do you guys think about this? Okay, to long, to short.

Testing every other day seems fine to me. However, if Brian says to test over two weeks, maybe that would give you the best results. I’m not sure. Maybe you could do your first test day or two then decide how you are feeling.

Who is Brian?

Brian Alsruhe strength and strongman coach. The author of Darkhorse, found on his site Neversate or here on T-nation in his log: Alpha V, his avatar here is Alpha.

Ah that guy, I like his videos. Thanks for clearing that up!

Looks fine to me.

Was that just the work giant sets, or does that include your warm-up? Either way, you’re way ahead of me on conditioning. Maybe I’ll do some Darkhorse after November and December strongman comps and try to lose some flab/bump up the conditioning for next Summer.

25 minutes for the giant and SS + assistance
About 15 - 18 minutes of warmup.
This is the deload part.
about 1 minute rest between sets. Breaking some sweat but kind of easy.

Testing every other day should be fine. Your getting 2 lifts this week and 2 next, so it is basically over 2 weeks anyway
