The 2006-2007 NHL Season

Not sure how popular hockey is around here, but we might as well have a thread for it.

The Sabres and Hurricanes officially kicked off the season last night, and it was a good one to start things off. First game of the season, first overtime, and first shoot-out of the season. Very exciting.

So who’s going to be on top this year? Who’s representing the East and the West? I’m taking the Sabres from the East and the Avalanche in the West.

Hockey is back in season!

the avalanche?/???

no way not good enough goaltending.

buffalo vs. san jose

Good call on Buffalo. Everyone knew Anaheim would be good, but this good? My Blackhawks are turning it around since they made Savard the head coach. I though he should have gotten the job a year and a half ago when they hired Yawney. Better late than ever. If Havlat had not gotten hurt, he would be in the top 5 in scoring, and the Hawks would be much better off. At least they’re back in the playoff race.

Right now, I would predict Buffalo over Anaheim. (Easy picks, I know).

BTW, Evgeni Malkin is an animal. Better numbers than Crosby and Ovechkin after this many games into their careers. In time, he might be the best of the three. The Penguins young talent is scary. In a few years, they could remind you of the Oilers in the 80’s. Crosby-Malkin, could be the new Gretzky-Messier. And don’t forget about Marc-Andre Fleury, Jordan Staal, Ryan Whitney, Colby Armstrong. They could be tough.

They’re playing hockey this year? Scratches head in confusion

The question will be can they sign Crosby, Malkin and Staal after the three year rookie contracts expire?

The NHL has been ruined. Way too many BS penalties.
