Testing 100 Meter and 200 Meter

If you were testing your best 100 meter or 200 meter how long would you rest between max attempts?
Thank You

A good rule of thumb is one minute rest for every 10 meters ran. So you’d rest 10 minutes after a 100M.

I’m curious, where did you get this figure?[/quote]

From the thumb, pay attention.

Never heard of this rule.

Usually 4-6 min is full recovery when we ran. I know there isn’t 20mins between 200m trials and finals in short meets and people do just fine.

Those numbers are from Charlie Francis, someone who has trained several world record holders and olympic medalists. If you can recover fully in 4-6 minutes, it means you’re not running that fast.

Truth is, you can recover 95-98% from a 100M dash in 5-6 minutes, but to be around 100% again you’ll need about 10 minutes.
