Tension VS Full ROM

hi
im going to go straight to the point and i’m going to use the pushup as an example. When doing the pushup at full range of motion, there is a point during the lowering and lifting phase when there is no stress on the muscles. So would it be more beneficial to stay within the range of tension even if that means not going all the way up and down?
My goal is to gain muscle mass.
thanks

Using your example, where in the ROM is there no stress on muscles? Are we talking about a specific muscle group, or all muscles?

well for example when i do a pushup. when my chest touches the floor and when my arms are straight at the top, thats when i don’t feel any stress. mainly on the chest
