Tears in the Patella Tendon

hey everyone.

I have had patella pain for a long time and i have FINALLY gotten my doctor to sign off on getting it imaged.

Turns out i have 2 small tears in the patella tendon below my knee cap.

does anyone have experience actually healing torn tendons without surgery? Prolotherapy? any supplements?

Thanks

I already take Glucosamine, condrotin, MSM and fish oil. tired curcumin and hyloronic acid but there expensive and i didnt feel any different.

Hasn’t your doctor answered your questions, Tork?

Three years ago I had a severe case of tendinitis of the quad tendons (the ones above the patella). I never had it diagnosed, so I don’t know if it could have been tendinosis or tears as you describe. Either way, it took 9 long painful months to heal.

8 months into the problem, a naturopath prescribed a specific mix of digestive enzymes to be taken between meals (not with meals), along with a magnesium supp. In addition, I applied a potassium/magnesium salve to the knees and quads 3x per day (this in addition to the supps I was already taking: fish oil caps, D3, C).

The healing began with 2 weeks of the naturopath’s recommendations.

i just had it imaged, and my knee specialist is on vacation for the next 2 weeks.

luckily for me, since i no longer do the olympic lifts competitively, the knee does not bother me nearly as much as it used to. even during and after big squat days.
