Targeted Ketogenic Diet Question

#1

Hi,
I have been following a standard keto diet for about a month & want to switch to TKD to add intensity in the gym as I have the same strength but the workouts are a drag.

I currently have 36g carbs in a day, 1g protein per lean body mass, and the rest fat.
1)Some post say to have 25-50g pre-workout. Does this mean on top of my already 36 carbs today?
2)Would Karbolyn be good for this or should I stick to something like gatorade that is simple sugars.
&
3)Do you think Cyclical Keto Diet is better?

I am trying to cut for summer. Currently 12-13% bf.

How much do you weigh and what is your total calories?

Peri workout is not conducive to Keto. Do one, not both.

  1. Yes, that is your carbs for the day. But, as no two people are the same, play with it. I found my max to be 50g. After that, I went out of keto to easily and had to compensate.

  2. as per the guidelines, avoid fructose. Gatorade is bad for that. Never tried Karbolyn but heard good things. Stick with that. Plazma is pretty good also.

  3. No one can answer. Up to you. Give is a try and see how you feel. I personally hated it. I always felt great on pure keto. I actually dreaded the week ends until I learned to control myself and keep the carbs clean.

Good luck

The Targeted Ketogenic Diet is “peri-workout nutrition” specific. Also Gatorade is Dextrose not Fructose.

Thanks though,
I will figure it out.

I have been doing something similar with good results. I am basically on a Keto diet except pre/post workout. I have Plazma before my workout and Mag-10 post workout. The rest of the time the only carbs I consume are from vegetables. Have been maintaining my weight and losing inches around my waist.

Gatorade is sucrose/dextrose mix. Sucrose is M-glucose and Fructose. Unless they changed their recipe, which they tend to doâ?¦… Hence, why it is not suitable and what you mentioned would be better (only from what I’ve read, never tried that Karbolyn product).

And, as mentioned, I’ve tried both and prefer the straight AD diet. And again, you will have to make that determination yourself. Neither is “better”. It is was is best for you.
