Tabata Fans - Try This One!

This one is from the Crossfit archives.

Do the following three workouts in three consecutive days:

Day 1
Tabata front squats 95 pounds.
Deadlift 135X21-18-15-12-9-6-3 reps rest 60 seconds between sets.

Day 2
Tabata push-press 75 pounds
Snatch 95X21-18-15-12-9-6-3 reps rest 60 seconds between sets.

Day 3
Tabata hang squat clean 85 pounds
Bench press 135X21-18-15-12-9-6-3 reps rest 60 seconds between sets.

That looks interesting- but what are the poundages expressed as %1RM??

Buck,

The unusual thing about Crossfit workouts is that everyone does the same amount of weight. So when you see 135x21, everyone uses 135 lbs. for that exercise regardless of your 1RM. There is a reason for this which I can explain later (short on time now), and personally, I don’t agree with that reason. I think it would be much more productive if the workouts were expressed as a % of 1RM. When I occassionally do a Crossfit workout, I generally modify things to suit my needs.

Thanks for the info Mike. I want to try it, but I thinkI’ll need to modify it… it would take a lot of “spotters” for me to bench 21 x 135#!!! :o)

60 sec rest? I thought it was supposed to be short rest between sets??? isn’t that the purpose of tabata?

First exercise is Tabata
Second exercise uses the 60s rest
