Syria, Here We Go Again

This seems to be a common occurrence in history…

Smal arms are crossing the border, only they are going south.

The confluence of Americans’ voracious appetite for recreational drugs and lax gun laws significantly contribute to the the violence and economic deprivation that are major push factors for Latin American emigration to the United States.

The US should increase support to address the underlying push factors that cause security and economic emigration, especially in the Central America’s Violent Northern Triangle.

To make a football analogy, why play defense in the red zone (the US-Mexico border) instead of the 50 years line?

Which is ridiculous. If anything, we should be arming these people to defend themselves. Both in the M.E. and in Africa.

So what now as our forces leave Syria? The Kurds, who helped us in our battle with ISIS, left alone to confront Turkey. This is not looking good for anyone. Turkey will likely rearm ISIS. We are leaving another Middle Eastern ally to be destroyed.

Any thoughts or ideas?

If you thought Obama pulling out from Iraq was wrong what’s your opinion of this?

If you thought our pulling out of Iraq caused ISIS to form, what are your thoughts on this?

If you think, like Trump, that America does not need to be in never ending wars in the middle east, what are your thoughts on him pulling forces from Syria.

If you think it is a good idea to get the forces out, did you agree when Obama got us out of Iraq? Yes? No? and why or why not?

Any thoughts?

Well, I was for leaving Syria as we were there to get rid of ISIS which was done. But given today’s news of Turkey moving on troops today to commit genocide on the Kurds. I have changed my mind. We need to reign in Turkey and fast.
I expected Turkey to wait a bit and feel out the international winds. They didn’t wait a minute. We need to hurt Turkey now.
I like drones let’s start there.

Would it have been a more acceptable genocide if they waited 12m to start?

Well he did promise to destroy their entire economy. I’m guessing neither, but only because the Trump towers in Turkey probably rake in millions.

Oh but they did.

Turkey’s offensive was triggered by a call between Donald Trump and Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on Sunday, in which, the Turks claim, Trump handed over leadership of the campaign against Isis in Syria to Ankara. The American president announced on Sunday night that US troops would withdraw from the region.

Gülnur Aybet, one of the Turkish president’s senior advisers, told CNN: “President Trump and President Erdoğan have reached an understanding over precisely what this operation is.” Aybet added that Trump “knows what the scope of this operation is”.

Hours after the bombing began, Trump issued a statement mildly criticising the offensive aimed at Kurdish forces, which for nearly five years fought alongside the US against Isis.

“The United States does not endorse this attack and has made it clear to Turkey that this operation is a bad idea,” the statement said, before noting: “There are no American soldiers in the area.”

In remarks later, Trump presented the invasion as a historical inevitability, saying Turks and Kurds “have been fighting each other for centuries”. And he downplayed the US debt to Kurdish fighters, saying: “They didn’t help us in the second world war, they didn’t help us with Normandy … but they’re there to help us with their land.”

Well Obama helped the Kurds. So…

And BTW…that WWII comment has to be one of the most stupidest & ignorant statements one could make. What the hell does that even mean? Why the hell should it even matter? Who’s advising Trump? Was that something Putin told him?

(And Hey dick, Vietnam helped us during WWII and we went to war with them so why the hell does WWII matter?)

And furthermore that territory was under British control at the time and yes, the British were our allies during World War II.

Absolutely insane.

We have a President who said “if a country does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, considered to be off limits…”

Holy shit folks. I guess we know why he’s so tight with Putin and Kim. And jealous of any stupid rules that may keep him from doing whatever he feels like.

If only our founders knew we would have such an intelligent leader they wouldn’t have setup these other areas of government.

I really thought I had reached the point that anything Trump said or did would not surprise me anymore.

I was wrong.

Unbelievable.

I don’t think we’ve seen anything yet. Just wait till the impeachment pressure amps up and it will. He is coming unhinged right before our eyes.
He’s not the guy I want having access to the nuclear football.

I for one I’m glad that US troops will come back from the Middle East and stop propping up socialists bent on secularism and gender equality and instead focus on protecting the perpetrators of 9/11.

Washington (CNN)The Pentagon will deploy about 1,500 extra troops to Saudi Arabia in answer to requests by the leading US military commander in the Middle East and, in part, because the US Navy is unable to send a relief aircraft carrier to deter potential Iranian aggression, multiple US officials tell CNN.

The move to bolster troops in the Middle East comes as President Donald Trump’s decision to pull back US military forces from northeastern Syria has prompted bipartisan criticism from lawmakers who say the President has given Turkey an opening to attack US Kurdish allies who helped in the fight against ISIS.

The Pentagon said Friday that the deployment to Saudi Arabia will include two fighter squadrons, one air expeditionary win, two Patriot batteries and one Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system.

Enhancing defenses

“Secretary Esper informed Saudi Crown Prince and Minister of Defense Muhammad bin Salman this morning of the additional troop deployment to assure and enhance the defense of Saudi Arabia,” Chief Pentagon spokesman Jonathon Hoffman said in a statement Friday. “Taken together with other deployments, this constitutes an additional 3,000 forces that have been extended or authorized within the last month.”

Did I not say I changed my mind?

Again, I changed my mind.

What exactly changed your mind? Turkey performing more ethnic cleansing was ALWAYS just a matter of time in this scenario.

Kudos on changing your mind though. Legitimate props.

As successful as Middle East intervention has been, I can’t see why we shouldn’t just continue.

But seriously, just get out of the whole region.

I wish he’d pull out of more places.

Yes, because the United States is not part of Iraq and Iraq is not in the United States.

Well, @loppar

The Kurds are left blowing in the wind…

And now thousands of U.S. Troops are being deployed to (wait for it…)

Saudia Arabia.

MAGA.

A hundred US troops in northern Syria would have been a successful deterrent to Turkey. For reference, Russia has four times that number in the Central African Republic so the saving money argument is bullshit.

The Kurds lost over 11k fighting men and women defeating ISIS with Soviet-era weaponry, now you’ll get 60k ISIS foot soldiers on the loose which per Trump won’t be a problem because “they’ll be going to Europe”

Don’t forget, you’ll be going to war with Iran shortly. This administration is 100% committed to Turkey/Saudi foreign policy goals. I’m pretty sure MBS offered a hefty sum for a war with Iran.

This needs to be emphasized, @loppar

THOUSANDS of U.S. troops are being deployed to Saudia Arabia.
