Suggestions On My Grocery List

I’m trying to eat clean and in doing so I need to make a grocery list. I’m asking that you guys make some recomendations or suggestions. Oh also I don’t eat any seafood except for tunafish.

So far:

Protein Powder
Creatine
Fish oil
Flax oil
Barilla Plus Pasta
natural peanutbutter
fat free yogurt
fat free cottage cheese
1% milk
chicken breasts

~Pitbull

I would add some oatmeal, fruits(apples, blueberries, pineapple, and pears are my favs) some veggies(romain, carrots, brocolli, coliflower). Also add some lean ground beef or ground turkey. I’m a big fan of yogurt and almonds as well.

Where’s the beef?

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol’ steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it’s a mighty good food
It’s a grade A meal when I’m in the mood.

Cowpokes’ll come from a near and far
When you throw a few rib-eyes on the fire
Roberto Duran ate two before a fight
'Cause it gave a lot of mighty men a lot of mighty might

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol’ steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it’s a mighty good food
It’s a grade A meal when I’m in the mood.

Eat meat, eat meat, filet mignon
Eat meat, eat meat, ear it all day long
Eat a few T-bones till you get your fill
Eat a new york cut, hot off the grill

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol’ steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it’s a mighty good food
It’s a grade A meal when I’m in the mood.

Eat a cow, eat a cow 'cause it’s good for you
Eat a cow, eat a cow it’s the thing that goes “Mooooo”

Look at all the cows in the slaughterhouse yard
Gotta hit’em in the head, gotta hit’em real hard
First you gotta clean’em then the butcher cuts’em up
Throws it on a scale throws an eyeball in a cup

Saw a big Brangus Steer standing right over there
So I rustled up a fire cooked him medium rare
Bar-B-Q’ed his brisket, a roasted his rump
Fed my dog that ol’ Brangus Steer’s hump

Beef (steak, stew meat, ground beef, post roast, etc.)

Pork (if you like it)

Eggs (X-large, 18-pack)

Canned tuna or chicken

Vegetables (buy bags of frozen veggies, convenient and healthy - get brocolli, green beans, spinach, mixed veggies, stir-fry veggies, lima beans, brussel sprouts, etc.)

Other veggies - tomatoes, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, white/red potatoes, onions, green peppers, etc.

Fruit (apples, oranges, bananas, berries, etc.)

Raw nuts (almonds or wal-nuts)

Why 1% Milk instead of Skim? Is there a nutrition reasoning or does 1% just taste better?

I get fresh ground turkey in 1 LB packages 4 burgers so its 1/4lb burgers cook em up with some peppers and they are great. plus easy as hell and you know the serving size easy.

That could very well be the best song ever written. Kudos to you for posting it.

Where’s the donuts, pizza, and candy bars?

In addition to what the other guys are saying, frozen berries. I get all sorts of frozen fruit (mango chunks, peach slices, mixed berries, pineapple bits) when I go. They’re great for protein shakes, and pretty cheap.

You don’t need to take both fish oil caps and flax oil, unless you just want to use the flax for salad dressing or something, but the fish oil is much more efficient.

Hodgson Mill makes a good whole wheat/whole grain pasta as well…

A great yogurt is Light and Fit Carb Control, made w/ Splenda.

I would go w/ Skim milk. Milkfat is horrible.

I agree w/ others, you need fuits and veggies… berries, melons, apples, oranges, pears.
I’ve been getting fresh berries since they are in season. I add them to my shakes and yogurt. Out of season I get a bag of frozen mixed berries and add them frozed to my shake and blend it… yum.
Defitely pick up a few bags of frozen veggies… broccoli, green beans, spinach… etc. If you are on a diet, these will not only add fiber, but will help you curb your appitite between meals. I add spinach to my omelets.

I would add shredded cheese and eggs to the list. Add the cheese to veggies or meats for some healthy fats and taste.

Plain ole water is great, but if youget bored, you may want to consider getting something else. Bottled water? Flavored water (ICE)? Diet coke? Green tea w/ splenda? Crystal lite?

Seasonings, mustard, etc.

Nuts,avacado, oliveoil, or conola oil.

If you cook and are creative, pick up some onions, mushrooms, and tomatos… lots of different options to spice things up… omelets, tacos, burgers, stirfry.

Make your own or pick up some salsa. Great topping for almost anything.

Hope this helps!

Why only Tuna. How about some Salmon? Get a steamer, its great that way.

I agree with Atmosphere (though I’m not as lyrically talented!!!). Steaks, burgers and red meat in general are essential pieces missing from your list.

Wish I could take credit for it, but it’s actually a song by Reverend Horton Heat. I just know it from the Boston Market (I believe) commercial. I zone-out when that thing’s on; it’s like crack.

I need to print off some shirts that say “Eat steak, eat steak, eat a big ole steer.”

Is there anything wrong with the 4% cottage cheese as opposed to the non-fat?

Somebody on here once recommended that I eat the 4% instead of the fat free which I used to buy. I’m not sure which one is better for weight loss.

LOL!!! Never paid attention to that commercial before!!!Definitely gets the point across, though!

I recommend omega-three eggs. There are a number of brands. A little more expensive, but a better fat profile, and less calorie dense.

I like to grill, too. Lots of lean meats (and some not as lean), and lots of veggies. EAT YOUR VEGGIES!

Solo’s girl, love your tank top in your avatar! Did you have that made? I need one of those.

(Sorry for the hijack.)

No Fruits/Veggies?
