Sudden Switch to Mixed Grip and Injury Risk

Ok, I only deadlift double overhand. However, I would like to test my max single in the near future. Would I be putting myself at risk of biceps tendinitis is I train exclusively double overhand for a while, and then go for my max single with a mixed grip (rather than adapting to a mixed grip at a lower weight for some time)?



Tendonitis? No. Biceps tear? Possibly. It’s a risk I personally wouldn’t take.

If you train double-overhand then test it double-overhand. If you think your mixed-grip max would be higher, then that would be a compelling reason to start training with a mixed grip.
