Stretching for Swimming

My swim coach recommends that I increase my flexibility by stretching. What stretches can I do?

You could get magnificent mobility to really help in your hip mobility, which, in turn will probably help your kicks. Also, probably some lat stretches and anything else that could help your shoulder mobility.

Side note: dont do them at the bottom of the pool.

for swimming, make sure the triceps are stretched, as well as your legs. Do this after every practice, and you WILL see results. I wish I had done so, as the added flexibility would have translated into better turns for me :-(. Areas to hit are the triceps, the back, legs, and shoulders.

I was told to hold the stretch when the slightest bit of pulling occured, holding it for 30 seconds, rest and switch to other side, do the same, repeat. My coach had said that stretching it until you feel it pull leads actually leads to flexing the muscle. Don’t know if that’s true, but just an FYI.
