Hi Coach, I’m on week 3 of the 2A program and it’s awesome. I’ve progressed in strength but at the same times the sessions (especially the developemental and double stimulation days) are very brutal, and left me thrashed and even with a headache this week.
So do you have any strategies to have more energy and be more efficient during these hard high volume sessions? (Carbs maybe pre and intra workout?)
Yes the carbs pre and intra were going to be my recommendation. Of course PLAZMA is the best choice, not only because it has the right type of carbs but also the right ratio of electrolytes.
See, the headaches could either be from low blood sugar or electrolyte depletion. Highly branched cyclic dextrins like in PLAZMA are rapdily absorbed but do not create a big spike in insulin. If you have fast carbs and the spike in insulin is very high, it can lead to a rebound hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) later.
A good 60-80g around workouts is likely adequate.
