Get a love connection with some hens at your local chicken farm.

I actually had the notion of letting a couple hens run around my back yard so I could collect eggs, and eventually eat them when they got older. Is this really impractical, or is a special license necessary? I really have no idea what goes into it, and it’s probably not worth the effort that it actually requires.
I have 3 chickens in my backyard (the legal limit for residential areas I believe where I am). No Idea about Germany laws.
They cost nothing. Cheap to feed (scraps + some chicken feed). Maybe 5 eggs week per chicken I’ve noticed (I also buy from the store to supplement).
Awesome. The eggs I eat are still warm before I cook 'em (I only rinse of the dirt).
To answer the original question I too believe that it is the shell that contains the contaminants. I soak my eggs in vinegar for a few minutes before cracking them open.

Ok, checked this morning. For 8 dollars you can get 1.8 litres of raw milk (grass fed cows).

Well, yes, but you are getting it directly from the farm, whereas I am getting it from Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck)

That is good info, thanks.
