Steel I-Beam - Platform for Chins

I have a steel I-beam in my basement that I’d like to use as a platform for chins. Ideally, I’d find a way to put some handles on it… but it’s steel - can’t drill through the g-dam thing… plus the base is 4" wide so you can’t fit a carabiner around it…

Any ideas on how to connect a chin handle to a steel I-beam???

Maybe you could do pullups on the I-Beam?

I agree that if you could do chins/pullups on the beam itself, you’d develop a GI Joe kung-fu grip. Why not get someone to weld some handles or a bar to the beam?

I would try to get chain or webbing looped over the top of the beam and attach a bar to that. If you don’t have the clearance google I beam clamps. Those should attach directly to your I beam, and you can then suspend chains from the clamps and attach a bar.

You can get beam clamps sized to any standard beam size. These can come with a D-Eye on them through which you put any kind of attachment you like. There are all different kinds, below is just one example.

HELL YES!!! I’d grab the I-beam directly, but my hands are quite prone to injury.

The beam clamps suggested are good, but are probably attached using a wrench and might be impractical if you want to take them down after you are done using them.

I would suggest variations of these:

or these:

Good luck

I have two chains around the I beam in my basement and I put a chinup bar in between the chains.
