Static contractions for ripped look?

I read in another thread that tension would help achieve a ripped look. Some prescribed heavy sets, others suggested posing to increase tension. I want to know if weighted static contractions would work as well? If so how taxing is this type of training on your nervous system? Does it compare to long eccentric contractions or failure training? Any samples? Thanks :slight_smile:
