I spent all of last week preparing to start Mike Robertson’s program outlined in Neanderthal No More, Part IV. The plan needed a little customization for me, as I don’t go to a gym. But overall, the majority of the program is intact. Yesterday was my first day.
… And today I’m feeling it. I’ve NEVER worked the minor muscle groups that serve to balance and antagonize the big guys. My weight training has always been geared toward the big muscles that are easy to see in the mirror. That kind of lazy training has taken a pretty big toll on me, though, as now I’m dealing with poor posture and horrible imbalances. Like I said, yesterday was my first day, so I guess that means now I’m paying the piper…
I just can’t believe how tired and sore I am. Nutritionally, I did just about everything right except take some Surge or any other workout drink during the training. I didn’t think it would matter too much. Also, I’m not sure I got enough sleep. I can only get 6 hours on a weekday due to the fact that my body just won’t fall asleep before 11 pm and I have to get up early.
Anyone else with massive imbalances that did this program experience this? I guess it makes sense. I pretty much blasted every muscle in my lower body that has been neglected for the past ten years. The last time these guys saw any training was when I did martial arts in high school. Then again, I was in awesome shape back then…
