Those of you who do this exercise, how wide grip do you find allows you to press the most weight?
Am I right in assuming that the same grip you use for your bench press will allow you to use the most weight, or should you go narrower (eg. clean grip).
I usually do about a thumb width away from the smooth part. I generally bench with a wide grip, pinkies on o-ring, so I can’t do that wide for military press.
The best grip for me is wide. I tuck my elbows hard into my side, while aligning my thumb along the bar, and pull my hands in until this position cannot be maintained. when this feels solid, I wrap the thumb and hit it. it is not so much a straight pressing motion as it is a backward arc over my head.
