I just joined a commercial gym after having previously trained at home.
I honestly thought that a lot of the stories in the original SRC thread sounded a little crazy but after witnessing one guy’s behavior Thursday night I’d believe pretty much anything.
As I was leaving the locker room to start training I saw an older guy with a limp walking in and moved aside to let him pass. I thought to myself, ‘this guy is old as hell, weighs around 120lbs and walks with a limp but still he comes in here and gives it his best, that’s awesome’.
Little did I know that his ‘best’ was going to potentially scar me for life. Firstly, the guy’s gym attire was borderline inappropriate. His shorts managed to achieve the combination of being both loose and incredibly short. I figured that this old fella probably hadn’t kept up to date with all the new-fangled advances in short length/ elasticity and carried on, doing my best not to look over to him.
However this became somewhat harder when, as if by magic, he unfurled 2 large pieces of pink satin cloth and began stage 2 of his work out. This involved him waving his pink sheets rhythmically to the beat of the music playing in the gym… for about 20 minutes.
Perhaps I’m the one who’s out of the loop when it comes to new-fangled cardio techniques.
