I’ve read according to Tom Kurz’s articles and books on sports training that squats are not sports-specific for martial artists even for elite Taekwondo practitioners and Judoka. However, he says that squats are sports-specific exercises for sprinters because they directly contribute improving sprinting performance. I don’t get it. I mean, squats resemble very little to both sprints and kicks. Yet, wouldn’t squats resemble throws more so?
