Squat Shoes

I’ve been squatting in Chuck Taylors for the last year after always using “gym shoes”. Haven’t noticed any real difference but clearly they don’t absorb some of your power like the spongy gym shoes.

I’m wondering if a hard soled squat boot/shoe with some heel elevation would be worth trying. My tendency is to get too much weight on my toes when squatting. Yeah, I need to improve my form to keep the weight over the ankles but would some heel elevation help this?

Flexibility is probably your biggest problem right now. Squat shoes, like olympic lifting shoes, are very popular though. They are worth investing in, I prefer them over chucks.

lift your toes up and stay on your heels a bit. Once you get the weight distribution down, then get a pair of olympic shoes. They are the best shoes going for close stance squatting and I even like them for overhead pressing as well.

Use chucks for deads and the sled!!!

chucks…you feel locked and loaded

wrestling shoes, just a bit more secure than chucks for me
