Squat Form

Sometimes when I squat (even with an unloaded bar), my knees start to point toward each other. Anyone know causes/cures?

Either you’re muscles are too weak to maintain stability or you’re standing too close to the mirror

You might be weak in the gluteals.

That shouldn’t happen, especially with an unloaded bar.
How much weight do you usually use?
Are you using a wide or narrow stance? Widening your stance might be the answer.
Are your feet pointing forward or outward? Perhaps pointing them outward helps.

I usually only use 50 extra pounds on the bar.

Ill try widening my stance (feet are already pointing out) and research some extra exercises targeting glutes. Thanks for the tips.

also, make sure when you are squating to keep your knees apart, i know that is the problem but conciously try to spread them and keep them out rather than in.

Fugative,

From an article on EliteFTS.com:

“3. P ? Knees buckle in
WP - Hips, glutes, external rotators
CP - Spread the floor by pushing out over the sides of your shoes.”

See the whole article at:
