Speed Work and Hypertrophy

Awhile back I believe you said speedwork on a pumped muscle was effective for adding additional hypertrophy.

How would you go about using such. Should you use straight weight or add in bands and chains the way powerlifters do?

The bands will allow you to stimulate more hypertrophy because it creates downward acceleretation which requires additiional eccentric strength to break/prevent. HOWEVER as with all methods emphasizing the eccentric, it is much harder to recover from. As such I would not use bands for more than 2 weeks in a row. Chains are fine to use 2/3rd of the time.
