Nothing’s wrong! It’s just not possible to compete with them!

You can compete on a pound for pound basis.

I was just messing with you. Since I’m small and all. Old too.

Looking forward to seeing your progress. I suspect (and my suspicions about such things are often accurate) that this is just the tip of the iceberg for you.

awww poor doggie and the cone of shame!! lol

looking forward to your progress…

Why HELLO!

Thanks for the intro in Balla’s log, since he’s so SLOW! ;D

You made a lot of great progress, and I look forward to following you to your meet approaching.

Hey! Some of us do things other than play on T-Nation all the time…like sleeping, eating, and sitting on the couch :-p

But here I am, so obviously that doesn’t apply to me…

CBear: I didn’t DL, Nate did. He lives in DC, 4 hours away so he is just here for the weekend, and uses the gym on campus. So, I went and did some plyo stuff (nothing exciting)-but he got a huge PR - 415x10!

Bobbi: True, but that’s a lot of math. Not that I don’t like math, but I’ve got a pretty big course load right now, haha.

Nikki: We were both pretty slow getting up this morning, errr afternoon.

Nate: you play on T-Nation while doing 2 of those things listed above, just saying.

yay PR!

and i can appreciate that kind of sleep. ahhh.

wink I gotcha. I’m definetely picking up what you’re putting down.

Nikki: We had a chuckle at this here. We slept til about 2 because we had a bit too much to drink the night before - or maybe I did, and he just wanted to sleep in :stuck_out_tongue:

Squat!
5x95; 5x120; 3x145; 5x160; 5x180; 11x205

Assistance work consisted of:
GM’s: 5x45; 6x85; 6x115; 5x125; 5x115; 12x95
Split Squats: 5x45; 5x75; 6x95, 95, 95

Conditioning for the day was on the treadmill:
Sprint @ 9.0, rest 45s, uphill walk @ 15% grade, rest 45s…repeat for 10 rounds. Took about 30 min.

I have never sweat so much in my life, I don’t think. I am a very efficient sweater, but I started sweating before I walked into the gym and that set the tone for my workout the entire time. I managed to confiscate the bar with the best knurling, and I STILL had to use chalk to grip it.

Oh wells! It wasn’t a PR, but I wanted to be sure to get the conditioning in afterward.

THEN, I made an AHmazing dinner. Nate had a ribeye and the grill, I had chicken on the grill with chipotle marinade. Sides were a sweet potato, rutabaga, and green beans. Delish!

Yeah, we’ll call that the “official” story…

205x11 is freaking ridiculous…you squat more for 11 than guys in my gym squat for 1 with shitty form…

I think when I first saw you on this site, you had mentioned that you could squat 205 for 3x3 and some fat dude with a land o’ lakes stretch mark pattern told you you weren’t strong for that…looks like you showed him!

Yup, I ate the ribeye AND the grilo…the whole thing…

yeah, wow, that’s a Squat! alright.

hey! Great numbers! Great lifting!! Are you going to compete again soon?

…and what a freaking adorable dog…i hear you.Boxers, pitties–> i’ve had them chew threw the bathroom plaster before. its hard keepin them in line!

Wicked squatting!! And that cardio… phew.

LOL at Balla’s sarcastic comment about the grill.

yeah, ok 205x11 is pretty awesome.

but i call shenanigans. anything more than 5 reps is cardio.

Brute: Thanks for empathizing! I know it’s normal for his breed, but sometimes it’s hard to accept when every other dog I know is so calm. And yes, I do plan to compete again - I’m hooked. Looking at March, but that’s still up in the air.

Cbear: haha, yeah that’s probably true, but right now I am TRYING to increase my conditioning and endurance. I am in my last semester of a Health & Fitness Specialist program and I have to take/teach group fitness classes - and part of my grade is whether or not I am able to talk while doing so. Odd, yes, but as much as I can lift, having been an athlete my whole life, I still value some conditioning.

Benches!
5x45 5x55 5x70 3x85 5x90 5x105 11x120 10x95x2
(chins done inbetween)

Single Arm rows:
5x25 8x35 20x45 10x40

Superset of:
Lat Pulldown: 10x85 10x90 10x90 10x85
Dips: 10 10 10 10

Ab Wheel: 3x10

Conditioning: Jump rope 2 sets of 500, then 15 sets of 100 with about 15-20 seconds rest inbetween.

Sweating: 1 gallon

I will do my hardest to never workout in this gym past 3:30 again. Greenville, NC is insanely humid, combined with an insane number of sweaty guys, makes this place a sweat bath. I couldn’t even do chin ups to the best of my ability because I kept sliding off of the knurled bars. I used chalk, but it just got sopped right up.

120x11 was a rep PR, but not a weight PR.

In other news, I am about to start the process of applying for internships for the summer. I would prefer one in strength and conditioning, but haven’t had much luck finding any. However, I also love the Biggest Loser, and would love to work at a fitness resort like on the show. If anyone knows of anything, let me know. I figure it can’t hurt to mention it!

Deadlift!
110x5 135x5 160x3 175x5 205x5 230x11

Deficit DLs: 5x135 6x165 6x165 6x165
Pistols: 10 10 10
Back Extension (w/ 25lb plate): 15 15 12

Conditioning: 50 yard sprints x 10; rest between was slowly walking the curve of the track.

My legs felt like they were going to fall off at the end of this. I should note that DL has been a bit of weak spot for me since my meet. Shortly after, I partially herniated my L4 & L5 disks. After taking some time off of lifting really heavy, and from sitting in class for hours every week, I think I have pinpointed the problem. First, I think I was forcing the last reps with poor form (although my 314 DL doesn’t look bad), and that sitting in the chairs I have to for class is terrible for my lower back.

That being said, I have been really good with keeping the arch in my back, and not pushing it too hard - and these 11 reps were damn near perfect. Plus, I Nate got me the most awesome lever belt for my birthday this summer - and after having to return it 2x, I’ve finally gotten comfortable using it effectively.
