Socialist Democrats Convention

Of course not. The Democratic Presidential debates I watched showed absolutely no sign of DSA ideology. Every single candidate raising their hand when asked if America should provide free healthcare to illegal immigrants who, by the way, should face no penalty for breaking the law is a move right out of JFKs playbook.

”Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for people who haven’t paid into the system.”

Or something like that, right?

Disgusting. I’m triggered.

Pandering is one thing. A political party actually changing its way of functioning is another. Trump promised a lot of things that the GOP was never going to let happen. He even promised a better insurance program than Obamacare.

Also, we do provide free healthcare to illegals just as we do prisoners (even of war). If a pregnant illegal is giving birth we don’t leave her in the desert alone. I doubt any Republicans would say we shouldn’t provide care to illegals.

If it makes you feel better, the man behind that died young.

His words didn’t die along with him.

So what is the DSA?

I didn’t know they are Marxists. Now I read that they’re Marxists who believe in socialism without authoritarianism. Which makes no sense if you’re a Marxist since socialism without authoritarianism is simply called communism.

Are you no one?

Right…

Don’t believe my lying eyes, let alone the words I hear. Bernie Sanders is not, in fact a leading candidate. Legislation that passed to change title IX to include gender identity also isn’t real. Or something…

You can’t have socialism without authoritarianism. It has never been done, by definition it can’t be done. When the collective takes control of an individual’s property, that’s authoritarianism.

au·thor·i·tar·i·an·ism
/ôˌTHäriˈterēənizəm/
noun

  1. the enforcement or advocacy of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom.

so·cial·ism
/ˈsōSHəˌlizəm/
a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Yeah, well, I thought they were into the stuff before Marx, much of which were like hippie communes.

Sanders believes in capitalism. Gender identity is a thing. It has been a thing for centuries, like homosexuality. Recognizing that is not wrong. It’s still new, in the sense that people don’t have to worry about getting burned at the stake, so of course there will be bumps in the road when it comes to how we deal with it. Texas law, not socialism, was the reason why a biological girl had to wrestle against other girls even though she is on hormones to transition to a male. She wanted to compete against boys. So going in the opposite direction, ignoring the reality of gender identity, isn’t the answer either.

There might be some utopian collective (thinking commune) that is socialist, yet voluntary.
One would give up the individual rights to be a cog in the system, thus no need for authoritarianism.

99.999999999% of us probably aren’t that egalitarian. Same % that would (could) go it alone with truly no social connection, l would think.

Called me bigoted or homophobic or whatever, but I’m just not really jiving with all this. You’re gay? OK, fine. You’re a transgender? OK…still fine. Anything else just sounds like bull to me. You are gender fluid, so whether you’re a dude with a dick or a girl with a dick or a fairy with a dick changes based on the day of the week and you’re pansexual because bisexual is too discriminative for all the people who are neither dude or chick?

I don’t know…just don’t get it, personally.

Of course… Now that you mention it I can no longer see any overlap between self-identified democratic socialist Bernie Sanders and the Democratic Socialists of America. How foolish of me to believe such a thing.

Similarly I can no longer see why the house voting on Title IX is at all alarming. I can’t see any way that might backfire on actual women. What a foolish thought.

Thanks for correcting my deeply flawed thinking.

Title IX is like assistance with education, right? I don’t know as much about this stuff as I should. How would this actually affect women? Real question.

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Do a little homework on what Title IX means to women, then ponder the consequences of changing “sex” to “gender identity”.
