Smith Machine Overload?

I used the Smith machine to do military presses the other day and went heavier than I ever have before (for a military press, I had never done the excercise on the smith machine). A week later, my Arnold press weight went up 10 lbs in each dumbbell. I was wondering, it’s obviously easier to do more weight on the smith machine, even around the max it doesn’t feel heavy, more like moving light weights while being super fatigued. But will the additional weight actually cause a greater stimulus?
