Slide Pushups

Those slide pushups in Chad Waterbury’s current article–wouldn’t DB bench presses starting with a wide or regular width and finishing with a narrow width do the same thing? Am I missing something?

No.

Waterbury’s pushups require more lateral force as the movement concludes. Wide DB bench/pronated flyes are just the opposite.

And the angle differs. Changing the direction of work even slightly tends to prompt new growth.

Finally, like every pushup, a certain degree of torso strength is required to do the movement correctly. It’s far less of an isolation movement.
