I'm doing Shoulders Overhaul for the second time now. I'm on the Phase 2. I have a question concerning the Push Press exercise. The tempo description says to be "explosively" which I am doing. But when I'm lower the weight back down to my clavicle do I lower it very slowly, controlled, or quickly (try to eliminate eccentric time)?
You want to do it controlled. The point of using the leg drive is to get the weight up concentrically because it is beyond a load that you would do under control. You get to take advantage of using the extra load on the eccentric (lowering) portion, so do it either under control or slowly. It's up to you.
